The knight, her bones weary, shrugged off her heavy armor. Behind her, Kemm used his innate fire animist ability to start a small bonfire. The girl she'd met in town with the strange gauntlet arm was making preparations to cook. Amelys, even with her head buried in knights armor as she slipped it off, could still smell the pungent herbs.

It was absolutely beautiful here in this secluded forest. After days of monotonous mountains and stubborn monsters, the clearing was a welcome respite from the hard travel the three had endured so far. The trees were thick all around, but she still could see the stars dotted in the azure blanket of the night sky above, like silver needlework on a celestial quilt. The full silver moon stood out like a big metal shiny button.

The knight, finally out of her heavy armor, finally was able to feel the night breeze on her arms and legs. It was nice to be in civilian clothes instead of the stuffy metal can her body was accustomed to being wrapped in. Glancing over her shoulder, she stole a smile as she watched Kemm and Star argue over who would pitch the tent.

The knight mused to herself that after the meal, especially on a peaceful night like this, all three of them would sleep wonderfully to the lullaby of the night birds.
